SYNOPSIS
Case Report of Soft Tissue Clear Cell Sarcoma in A Child by Prof Wang Huanmin
The patient was an 11-year-old boy with one month history of a palpable mass in the inguinal region. Initial biopsy suggested perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa), but consultations yielded conflicting opinion from different pathologists. After ineffective sirolimus treatment, PET-CT revealed tumor progression, and then the surgical resection was conducted. Postoperative pathology indicated soft tissue sarcoma, prefer to clear cell sarcoma (CCS). NGS detected EWSR1-ATF1 gene rearrangement, confirming CCS diagnosis. Due to CCS's resistance to chemotherapy, local radiotherapy was recommended. The patient recovered well post-surgery and radiotherapy, with no recurrence signs one year later. However, in the latest follow-up, the patient showed tumor recurrence and metastasis.
Case Sharing on Clear Cell Sarcoma by Dr Lu, Evelyn
2 cases of non renal clear cell sarcoma will be illustrated. This rare disease entity is associated with poor outcome, and no strong evidence-based treatment is effective to achieve remission or control the disease. Despite lack of effective treatment, we are able to achieve a relatively long progression free period for around two years with chemotherapy for one of our patients.
Pathology of Clear Cell Sarcoma (Non-Renal) by Dr Aw Sze Jet
The presentation will cover key aspects of clear cell sarcoma of soft tissue from a pathologist’s perspective. It will include:
1. Histological features
2. Immunohistochemical profile
3. Molecular signature
The discussion will also address important differential diagnoses. There will also be a brief overview of the molecular mechanisms involved in the tumor’s growth.
