Overcoming the Odds after Brain Tumour Surgery

When Izzat was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (a cancerous brain tumour). Three years on, he has overcome tremendous obstacles to take his PSLE examinations.

"Taking the PSLE seemed impossible after the surgery... but with the support of everyone, I feel blessed that I could complete it.”

We are very inspired by this courageous child who has triumphed against all obstacles.

Izzat is one of the patients diagnosed with medulloblastoma who has been able to receive accurate molecular sub-typing at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. By accurately diagnosing their tumour subtype based on the genetic profile, optimal treatment can be assigned to offer the best chance of survival and the least possible side effects. This technology is supported by the VIVA-KKH Paediatric Brain and Solid Tumour Programme, and would not be possible without the generous support of our donors.

We would like to specially thank Dr Amos Loh and his amazing team at KKH for supporting the VIVA-KKH Paediatric Brain and Solid Tumour Programme, and working tirelessly to save the lives of children with cancer.
