PRESENTATION SUMMARIES
Overview of Paediatric HSCT - The Past, The Present and Future Directions by Ms Pham Thi Ngoc Anh
Over the past 2 decades, paediatric HSCT has improved significantly, with decreased mortality rate (< 10%), and increased survival rates (> 80%). Indications for HSCT has expanded beyond malignant conditions to include inherited metabolic disorders, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and autoimmune disorders.
Alongside HSCT advancement, nurses continue to play an essential role in ensuring best holistic care is delivered. The future holds promise with personalised treatment, cellular therapy advancement, gene editing, and less toxicity conditioning regimens. While challenges remain, opportunities lie in global collaboration, education, training, and research advancing.
