VIVA Foundation and our partners actively look into developing more effective ways to help treat children with cancer. As children are at an early development stage in life and a lot more delicate than adults, doctors have to determine the best treatment program that would help each child fight his or her cancer. Over-treating the children may lead to late-effects in life, while under-treating could result in relapses. Every child is different and precision in diagnosing the child is paramount in ensuring the right amount of treatment is given to each child.

In December 2013, a key discovery was made by two doctors, one of them being VIVA-Goh Foundation Associate Professor Allen Yeoh. With this discovery, doctors are now able to diagnose a child more accurately, tailor more effective treatment and increase the children’s survival chances.
