SYNOPSIS
In the majority, systemic chemotherapy for paediatric leukaemia treatment results in a cure. However, we need to acknowledge the late effects that follows treatment. We will discuss the potential late effects of leukaemia treatment and what we can do to minimise these risks.

Dr Debbra Chong is an associate consultant in the Haematology-Oncology Service, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore. She is part of the late effects and survivorship team that provides holistic care for paediatric oncology patients after treatment completion.
Ms Nur Farahin Mohamed Zakaria

Farahin has been a paediatric nurse for more than 10 years, specialising in the care of children with cancer. She has just completed her Masters in Nursing from NUS and is now practicing as an Advanced Practice Nurse in oncology. Her area of interest is in the late effects and survivorship of paediatric oncology patients, for which she has undergone specialised training in Canada under the Human Manpower Development Program awarded by MOH. She is also involved in several initiatives and projects to improve the care of paediatric oncology patients.
