2nd St Jude – Viva Forum on Pediatric Oncology

Theme: Hematological Malignancies in Children.  Biology and Treatment Results from the World’s Cooperative Groups. 

This year's forum on 5-7 March 2008, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore was a huge success.  A total of 250 participants from all around the world gathered together to exchange information and collaborate in research.  Seventeen world leaders from the major cooperative groups were invited to speak on childhood AML and Stem Cell Transplant.

We want to thank all the speakers for taking the time to share their experiences and knowledge with the 250 delegates from all around the world.

We were impressed with the number of the delegates that registered and turned-up.  We hope that this event provided answers to some of their questions in their professional field. Another key lesson learned from this event is the critical need to NETWORK with other doctors from all around the world.

Viva-University Children’s Cancer Centre (VUC3)

One of Viva Foundation's programme came into realization with the completion of the Viva-University Children’s Cancer Centre which is housed in Ward 88, Kent Ridge Wing, National University Health System (formerly National University Hospital).  It is a one-stop facility complete with inpatient wards as well as outpatient consultation and day therapy areas.

The Centre was publicly launched on 5 March 2008 with Guest-of-Honour Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State – Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Gracing the momentous event were Minister George Yeo, Viva Foundation’s Ambassador of Goodwill Mr Jackie Chan, top doctors from St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and other world leaders, donors, sponsors and volunteers. It was a significant day for Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer.
